Hello Lovelies, Here are ten top tips to help you beat the winter blues:

1. Light Therapy – Buying and using either a Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) lamp or bulbs , which shine a bright, artificial light which replaces the absence of natural sunlight. When Exposed to this light mood can be improved and the internal body clock is regulated.

2. Get Outside- Even though it may be cold, try to spend some time outdoors during daylight hours. Natural sunlight is a natural mood booster.

3. Exercise – Regular physical activity can help with the winter blues as it releases endorphins, reduces stress, and boosts overall well-being. Do some indoor exercise such as dancing around the living room or doing some Yoga or HIIT exercises at home if you don’t fancy going out in the cold.

4. Maintain a Routine – Stick to a daily routine as much as possible. Consistency can provide a sense of security, familiarity and stability during the winter months.

5. Socialise- Stay connected with friends and loved ones. Isolation can exacerbate feelings of loneliness and sadness. Schedule regular get-togethers, phone calls or video calls to maintain social connections.

6. Healthy Eating – Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These foods provide essential nutrients that support your mood and energy levels.

7. Stay Hydrated – Dehydration can affect your mood and energy. Make sure to drink enough water throughout the day. Try having hot water with lemon or mint in it, if you don’t want to drink cold water

8. Mindfulness and/or Meditation- Practicing mindfulness and/or meditation can help manage stress and improve mental well-being. Consider incorporating these practices into your daily routine. There are plenty of mindfulness practices and meditations on Youtube.

9. Plan Activities – Make a list of enjoyable winter activities that you can do, such as going to the theatre or pantomime, or seasonal markets and fayres, having a seasonal movie night in with hot chocolate and marshmallows. Having things to look forward to can boost your spirits.

10. Seek Professional Help- If your symptoms persist or worsen, consider consulting a health professional. They can provide strategies and treatments tailored to your specific needs.
